Assessment Package
NCEA Level 1 Geography
AS:91013 Describe aspects of a geographic topic at a global scale.
Global Cafe is a self-contained assessment package that examines one of the world’s most traded commodities – coffee. Students use the comprehensive full-colour resources to investigate where coffee is produced and consumed, the factors that have caused this and the implications for people.
Coffee plays a significant role in the lives of many people and is the second most traded commodity (after oil). Over the years the drinking of coffee has gone from a luxury to a necessity for many, while in some parts of the world people depend on growing coffee for their economic survival. The history of coffee is seen as romantic and mysterious, but there are concerns about how the coffee industry affects our world today and what impacts it might continue to have in the future.
The Assessment Booklet consists of write-on sheets for students to provide their responses, with spacing that indicates appropriate answer length. Assessment booklet has a coversheet (customisable) that outlines the achievement standard, instructions and key terms.
The full colour resource booklet consists of articles and images that help students develop their answers.
A range of activity suggestions, videos and templates for students to familiarise themselves with the topic and practise geographic skills.
The detailed marking schedule also contains a range of example answers for each task and indications for NCEA grade differentiation.
Deeper explanation about what to consider when marking the tasks and the typical answers students will provide.
You can edit and customise the assessment sheets, marking schedule and coversheet.
